We have a strong commitment to excellence in diverse research that has a powerful impact on the wider world.
All our research is organised within six research themes: Food; Health and Wellbeing, Global Economy; Heritage, Cultures and Communities; Information and Security; and Space.
The themes, which focus on areas of major global challenge, bring together our research centres and research groups facilitating both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, while enabling the development and nurturing of research partnerships with other universities, industry, business and public/charity sector organisations.
These partnerships are drawn from across the world as well as in the UK, together with the local region, which underlines the importance of our research role in the community. Our research has been transformational, changing processes and lives, making a real impact on the world we live in.
