Parking on campus

If you’re travelling by car, plan ahead to make the most of your visit and understand your parking options.

Parking is available across our sites, but spaces can be limited. Check before you travel, as guidance varies by location and event.

Accessible parking is available across our sites, with designated Blue Badge bays and support to help you plan your visit.

Visitor parking

Visitors can park in University car parks and pay using Hozah. The first two hours are free. For longer stays, register your vehicle before or during your visit and payment will be taken automatically. Charges apply Monday to Friday, 07.00–19.00. Blue Badge holders can register online for a reduced rate. If you’re visiting a member of staff, they may be able to help arrange parking in advance.

Event parking

If you’re visiting for an open day, applicant event, public lecture or business event, check your booking confirmation before you travel. Some events use dedicated parking, temporary signage or specific arrival points. Your confirmation will tell you where to park and which entrance to use. If not, follow standard visitor guidance and allow time to find a space.

Student parking

Student parking is limited at Herts, so check the latest guidance before bringing a car. Arrangements vary depending on your circumstances, including commuting, living on campus or needing accessible parking. If you do not need to park, consider public transport, cycling, walking or park and ride.

Staff parking

Staff parking operates separately, with guidance on registration, permits and charges available on internal channels. Check the latest information before travelling, especially if your working pattern or permit changes. Visitors should be given parking details in advance.

Park and ride

Our Angerland park and ride offers an alternative way to travel. The car park is open Monday to Friday, 07.00–22.00 and is free to use. During term time, a shuttle bus runs to both sites, with tickets available on the day. Outside term time, you can park and walk to campus.

Located off Junction 2 of the A1(M) (AL10 8HS).
