Hertfordshire Business School delivers transformational education and real-world impact. With a global alumni network, award-winning apprenticeship programmes, and supporting small businesses, we empower future leaders and drive regional business growth.

We’re one of the largest and most dynamic in the East of England, offering practice-led, opportunity-rich education to over 10,000 students on campus and a further 4,000 studying overseas. Our mission is to transform learners into confident professionals, equipped with the skills to lead, manage, and innovate in a global business landscape.

We rank 6th in the UK for postgraduate business and management experience (PTES 2024). Our undergraduate programmes are built around real-world assessments, including live client projects and data-driven business reporting.

We hold the Small Business Charter and are a vital resource hub for businesses, supplying a pipeline of talent through placements, internships, and graduate recruitment. Since March 2022, our Help to Grow management programme has supported the growth and resilience of 149 small business in the region and beyond.

Our research ranks in the UK’s top 25% for impact, with active consulting teams and initiatives like the Hertfordshire Business Academy linking academic insight with business practice.

Courses

Our courses are co-designed with employers and enriched by live briefs, placements, and real-world tools. Students gain hands-on experience through hackathons, start-up challenges, and consultancy projects. With 700+ business links, personal tutors, industry mentors, and access to the Enterprise Hub’s co-curricular events and peer networks, we support success from classroom to career, and beyond.

    Research groups

    Our research explores the issues that matter – here in the UK and around the world. The quality of our work examining economic, social, and environmental challenges earned us a rise of 79 places in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF). From understanding the social impact of the Blue Skies Model to making the wellbeing benefits of outdoor activity more accessible, we investigate real-world problems, helping to shape policy, inform practice, and drive positive change across communities and industries.
