Returning students

Before each year of study at Herts, you need to complete registration to confirm you are continuing with your programme. This includes students who are studying through distance learning or on placement.

The deadline to complete registration is 10 October 2022. It’s really important to complete registration each year so you can continue your studies.

If you’re returning after a study abroad year, placement year, or are college students or doctoral college researchers who are off-site, you will still need to complete stage 1 registration. But just note, that your status will not change to ‘registered’ automatically so your registration will take slightly longer. Our Student Records and Enrolment team need to manually confirm that your record is can be passed to ‘registered’ status.  If your record has not gone to registered status within five days of completing stage 1 registration, please email ask@herts.ac.uk so we can take a look and resolve it.

Step 1

You will receive an email from the University around Friday 19 August inviting you to complete stage one of registration. The email will guide you through how to access registration through your Student Record. If you haven’t received an email from us, then check your junk/trash email folders first. If you still haven’t received an email, contact the Ask Herts team. Make sure to include your student ID number.

Step 2

Login to your Student Record as soon as you receive your registration email from the University. Click on the link called 'Registration (Stage 1)' and follow the instructions to re-register. This should be familiar as it's the same process when you registered at the start your programme.

Once you have completed stage 1 registration, please allow the system 24 hours to update overnight.  You can then log into your Student Record to check that your status has updated to ‘Registered’.

Step 3

Make sure you’ve paid any tuition and accommodation fees. You can pay any University fees here. If you’re not sure when you need to pay your fees, you can check here.  If you are a UK or an EU student, remember that you’ll need to re-apply for funding each year. Your Student Loan Company (SLC) loan payment cannot be released until you have completed stage 1 of registration
