Want to know when and how to pay your tuition fees to the University of Hertfordshire? We've put together lots of important information to help you understand everything you need to about paying for your course. Plus, we recommend you read our policy documents for further details.

Tuition fee payment dates

Tuition fee payment dates are also called liability dates, they are the date you become liable for your fees. Your fee liability date will depend on the year and semester you start your course. Please note these dates do not apply to short courses, UH Online (distance learning) students, research students or international students. If you are a self funding student, you must pay in line with the tuition fee payment dates relevant to your course year of entry and semester start date.

2024/2025 entry

Semester A

Courses starting in September 2024

Payment dates for all students who are starting or returning to their programme in Semester A.

How to make a payment

Student Loan Company funding
Home and EU undergraduate students can apply for their funding in advance of commencing their course. The Student Loan Company will make payments directly to the University on your behalf.
International Students
International students, studying a full-time course, may be eligible for a £500 Full Payment Discount. Please see details below:
Academic Year 24/25
International students joining in Semester A may receive this discount if their tuition fees are paid in full by 7 October 2024.
International students joining in Semester B may receive this discount if their tuition fees are paid in full by 3 February 2025.

Academic Year 23/24
International students joining in Semester A may receive this discount if their tuition fees are paid in full by 9 October 2023.
International students joining in Semester B may receive this discount if their tuition fees are paid in full by 5 February 2024.

Paying your deposit
International students will need to pay a £5,000 deposit prior to registration. The remainder of your fees can be paid in line with the liability dates associated with your year and semester of entry.

Self funding students
If you are paying your own fees, you must pay in line with the tuition fee payment dates relevant to your course year of entry and semester start date.
External funding
If you have secured a loan or scholarship payable directly to the University, please bring proof with you to registration or finance-tuition@herts.ac.uk.

Any remaining balance of tuition fees due from the student will need to be paid as per the tuition liability dates associated with the year and semester of entry.
Sponsored Students
If a company or employer is paying your tuition fees, then your employer or sponsor will need to complete the Sponsor Agreement Form or write a letter confirming sponsorship.
You will be liable for the fees if we do not receive a signed agreement form from your sponsor or if the sponsor fails to pay. Read further information about sponsored fees.
