Payment security and compliance
- always check that you are on a legitimate University website. Official University of Hertfordshire pages will begin with https://www.herts.ac.uk/
- be cautious of payment requests via social media or in person, especially if incentives or discounts are offered. Only use the University’s approved payment methods, which are safe and secure
- always pay your fees directly to the University using approved methods. Do not use third parties (individuals, companies or agents). Payments from unverified sources may be returned following compliance checks
- where possible, pay your deposit in one single payment. This helps ensure clear traceability of funds and allows for more straightforward compliance and security checks. Multiple or fragmented payments from different source will raise compliance flags and could cause delays or return of your funds
- never make payments using bank details provided by email or phone, as these may be fraudulent. Always use the University’s official payment channels
- payments are processed by Convera and Flywire, regulated financial institutions required to screen transactions for compliance. They may contact you for additional information before releasing funds to the University
- if you receive a request for further payment information, carefully verify the sender and respond promptly. Failure to do so may result in your payment being returned
- the University only issues refunds to the original payment source. Refunds to alternative bank details are not permitted, and the University is not liable for losses arising from third-party transfers.
