Your Herts Experience

The experience at Herts is based on three pillars – community, flexibility, and opportunity.

Our six principles

Your Herts experience will:

  • begin before you arrive on campus for the first time
  • meaningfully prepare you for each year of your studies
  • integrate you into our community while recognising your individuality
  • involve providing you with clear expectations about your learning
  • grow your skills and expand your networks
  • help you design your future and enhance your employability.

Ultimately, we commit to making sure that your experience consists of equity of opportunity for you to grow as a person, achieve your aspirations and increase your chances of landing your dream role, when you progress to life as a graduate.

So, while you will be focussing on your first few weeks at Herts and getting stuck into your course, we will be working hard to bring our six principles to life for you, and while our staff are crucial to creating an exceptional student experience, we also expect you and your peers to be part of this.

Make the most of it

To maximise on the opportunities studying at Herts brings to the best of your ability and in light of your individual circumstances, you will need to:

  • attend punctually classes and events
  • engage in-person and online, with your studies and wider university events
  • communicate, exercise your voice as students and learners telling us how we are doing and what you need
  • support your peers academically and personally, letting them draw on your experience too.

Finally, we love student feedback, so we’ll be asking you throughout your time here if your Herts Experience is meeting your expectations, and what we can do to improve together.
