Care home research

Care homes are the main provider of long term care for older people in the UK.

The focus of these studies is on how the NHS, and primary care services in particular, work with and support the care of the oldest old in care homes.

This includes studies on:

  • the processes and service delivery models that support integrated working between the NHS and care home providers
  • supporting care homes as partners in health and end of life care.
  • support for people living with dementia resident in care homes, including end of life care and continence care.
