Final Award: BSc Hons Diagnostic Radiography

Our comprehensive programme prepares apprentices for a successful career as a diagnostic radiographer by combining theoretical study with hands-on clinical practice experience. You'll graduate with the skills, confidence and knowledge to excel as a radiographer by producing high-quality images while delivering exceptional patient care.

What will I study?

Apprentices study a range of modules which incorporate theoretic knowledge and understanding with the practical application of skills and behaviours in the apprentice’s workplace.

Key areas of study include:

  • Anatomy, physiology and pathology: understanding the structure and function of the human body is essential for diagnostic radiographers to accurately interpret medical images.
  • Radiographic imaging techniques: learning about various imaging modalities such as X-ray, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and nuclear medicine.
  • Radiation physics and protection: understanding the principles of radiation physics and ensuring the safe use of radiation in medical imaging procedures.
  • Patient care and communication: developing skills in patient interaction, care, and communication to ensure a positive patient experience during imaging procedures.
  • Professional practice and ethics: learning about the legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities of diagnostic radiographers, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.

Professional Accreditations

Eligibility to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Diagnostic Radiographer.

The programme is pending accreditation from the Society and College of Radiographers.
