Primary Education
At the School of Education we offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Primary Education leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Bachelor of Education (BEd) Primary
The BEd (Hons) Primary Education with QTS is a three year, full time, undergraduate course offering professional and academic training.
Alongside taught content at the University, trainees will be placed in one of our partnership schools each year in order to develop their skills as teachers and make links between theory and practice.
The course also offers the opportunity to partake in a residential visit to experience aspects of learning in the outdoors.
Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Primary
The PGCE Primary Education is a one year, full time, teacher training qualification.
Alongside taught content at the University, trainees will be engaged in school-based training, where they will develop their skills to become excellent classroom teachers.
Career Opportunities
At the end of either of the Primary Education programmes, trainees will be recommended for QTS and will be ready to start their teaching careers in a primary school. The School of Education has an excellent record of employment with 97.1% of 2015/16 graduates in employment or further study within six months.
