Art and Design gallery

The critically acclaimed University of Hertfordshire Galleries are among the most innovative contemporary art spaces in the UK.

Together with our arts and galleries team, we present a changing programme of work by new and emerging artists, which sees our Gallery turn into a vibrant community exhibition space for photography, interactive installations, and exhibitions showcasing a wide range of work from artists including Permindar Kaur, Caroline Achaintre, Valerie Inns and Augustin Rebetez.

Alongside this, students at the School of Creative Arts can benefit from our relationships with industry partners, which have helped graduates get a foot on the career ladder and build valuable relationships with industry professionals.

These industry connections manifest themselves in many ways throughout your time here, through added extras such as our programme of talks and workshops which connect students with pioneering practitioners and artists from all over the world, and provide you with relevant insight and contemporary industry experience.

Students from across the School also have the opportunity to meet industry influencers at the opening night of our Graduate Degree Show, when students can showcase their work and talk about future options and opportunities with relevant professionals in their field.

The Degree Show then remains open to the public for a week, and sees around 4,000 visitors through the doors as the Gallery and the surrounding School transform into a flagship space for all creative subjects.

The School is also home to annual Fine Art, Creative Media and Postgraduate Studies exhibitions, as well as the Art Shop and Gallery Café which sit in the heart of our Creative Arts buildings. Tucked into the Gallery itself, the café gives students a chance to relax and enjoy a variety of tasty hot drinks, snacks and lunches, whilst enjoying the surrounding artwork and the lively, informal learning environment here at the University.
