Whether you’re living on campus, commuting or travelling from abroad, here is some useful information about what you need to do on your first day.
Make sure you arrive at the right campus by using the post codes below.
College Lane – AL10 9AB: Arrivals for Bellingham Court, MacLean Court, Newton Court, Schofield Court, Spalding Court and Telford Court
de Havilland – AL10 9EU: Arrivals for Aldenham, Ashwell, Hadham, Kimpton, Lemsford, Redbourn, Sandridge, Sarratt, Shenley, Watton, Welwyn.
You will need this to collect your bedroom key. This will be available for you to print after you complete your online registration. Not sure you have this?
Get in touch with the Student Centre who will be able to help you.
College Lane: You can collect your key from Hutton Hub.
de Havilland: You can collect your key from Restaurant de Havilland.
We will direct you to these locations when you arrive.
Our staff will be on hand to guide you to the most suitable parking location when you arrive on campus, and you will be sent an email with an Arrivals Leaflet a week before you arrive.
If you have a blue badge or need level access, make sure you let our staff know on the day.

The University has its own bus company, Uno.
Uno runs local buses throughout Hertfordshire and into North London. Discounted tickets are available for staff and students.
Common routes are:
- 341 Hatfield - Broxbourne
- 601 Borehamwood - Welwyn Garden City
- 602 Hatfield - Watford
- 610 Enfield/Cockfosters – Luton
We also run the UH Shuttle. It is a free service between The Forum (College Lane campus) and de Havilland.
If travelling by car, the University campuses are close to junction 3 of the A1(M) and signposted. The postcode for sat nav use is:
AL10 9AB for College Lane campus
AL10 9EU for de Havilland campus
The University offers a park and ride facility at Angerland, just off junction 2 of the A1(M). It’s available for all our students to use and no permit is needed.
There are fast and frequent trains from London Kings Cross to Hatfield train station and from London St Pancras to St Albans train station, directions can be found using the National Rail Journey Planner.
Buses run frequently to both campuses from Hatfield and St Albans stations.
- 653 is the most frequent service from the station to College Lane campus (the Forum) and then on to the de Havilland campus
- 614 stops at College Lane campus (the Forum) and de Havilland campus
- 602 stops at College Lane campus (the Forum) and de Havilland campus
- 602 stops at College lane campus (the Forum) and de Havilland campus
- 601 stops at de Havilland
