Visit the LRCs

We welcome visitors to our Learning Resources Centres (LRCs), which are open for reference use of the University's library collections of printed books.

Temporary login accounts are also available to visitors to access online journals and other learning resources.

Get your day pass

  • Ask at the LRC Security Desk for a Visitor Day Pass. Please bring photo ID and proof of your current address.
  • If you'd also like to apply for a temporary login account to use University online journals (where licences permit), please do this at the LRC Security Desk when you request your Visitor Day Pass. You'll need to complete a form and agree to the terms of use.

Different types of visitors

Alumni

Herts graduates and recipients of other University educational awards automatically become UH Alumni.

If you hold an Alumni Association Membership Card you can use this as your proof of ID to get free access during visitor hours to the LRCs.

If you don't have an Alumni card you can apply for a Visitor Day Pass. You also apply for a temporary login account to use University online journals (where licences permit) you'll need to complete a form and agree to the terms of use.

Business visitors and members of the public

If you're from a business or a member of the public, please apply for a Visitor Day Pass to access our LRCs.

Prospective students

If you're a prospective student, we'd love you to visit the LRCs on a University Open Days and at other times by applying for a Visitor Day Pass on arrival.

Organised groups

We welcome groups of visitors by pre-arrangement. Please address your enquiry to: Library and Computing Services SBU Office, University of Hertfordshire, College Lane, Hatfield, Herts, AL10 9AB or send us an email.

Get online

While visiting, you can access free WiFi provided by The Cloud. Select 'The Cloud' from the available network list, open your browser, press refresh and then follow the on screen instructions that will appear.

Please note that all visitors to the University's Learning Resources Centres have to comply with University regulations for their use.
