Alumni Awards 2024

Photography lecturer winner in 2019 Portrait of Britain competition

The Portrait of Britain, run by the British Journal of Photography in partnership with JCDecaux, is the country’s biggest photography exhibition and is viewed by millions nationwide. As well as being featured in the Portrait of Britain book, Matt’s winning picture of his daughter, titled Breakfast at Nana’s, has also been showcased on JCDecaux’s network of digital screens across the country – appearing in airports, train stations and high streets throughout September.

“I’m delighted to have three of my images featured in this year’s Portrait of Britain book, as they all represent different areas of my photography. I’ve been photographing children in my family for the last four to five years and it’s something I intend to do for as long as I can, so it’s extra special for Breakfast at Nana’s to be recognised as a winner in this year’s competition.”
