The University of Hertfordshire Business School has teamed up with an award-winning, global events agency to provide students with enhanced industry knowledge and experience from leaders in the sector.

“Event experts” emc3 – who were named Global Agency of the Year at the 2023 Agency Awards - have been announced as Herts’ new BA (Hons) Event Management Programme Ambassador. The exciting collaboration will see ambassadors from the company working with students to provide specialist, industry-relevant education, insight and work placements.

Specialist storytellers, emc3 create events that “ensure every moment counts”; working to captivate audiences, challenge minds and inspire action. Globally renowned for delivering some of the most impactful and innovative experiences around for major brands including Google, by sharing their expertise and experience, they will bring the industry alive for students as well as providing relevant, practical learning experiences.

Programme Leader, Deborah Grieve, said: “This degree supports students as they discover everything they need to know about the magic of organising successful events - whatever size, scope, or budget. Working alongside an award-winning, committed, event management agency like emc3 gives them incredibly valuable insights into the reality of event management.

“It’s an honour to have them supporting Hertfordshire Business School with specialised sessions, employing placement students and informing the curriculum.  Since students work on live events from their first year, this practical grounding in every aspect of business, with insights from people who know the business inside and out, helps them gain confidence and vital experience.

“An organisation that puts people at the heart of their business, emc3 is the perfect partner to help shape and enthuse our bright minds. They have a strong commitment to using events as a force for good and work with a number of partners in the sector. This was evident in their Reimagine London 2023 conference which looked into crucial topics, such as sustainability, diversity and inclusion, emerging technology and more. It is a very exciting and welcome partnership for us.”

Hertfordshire Business School is the largest Business School in the East of England, and this course brings together the theory and the practical. There is a steep learning curve in the events industry, and it can take several years to get the skills needed. Knowledge and experience across all event disciplines, such as that gained on the course when running events, can really help to fast-track graduates’ careers once they enter the events sector.

“We are thrilled to be the Key Industry Partner for the Event Management Programme. We look forward to sharing our knowledge of the events industry and the importance of making every moment count with the next generation” said Alistair Graham, emc3 co-founder & CEO.

Emily Maule, emc3 L&D Manager, added: “We hope to be able to help students along their journey into the events industry and to help them discover more about the incredible diversity of roles that exist and are coming into existence.”

Hertfordshire Business School and emc3 are committed to building the practical skills and knowledge that future event professionals require.
