Interviews

At the University of Hertfordshire, we believe that an interview provides you with the best opportunity to enhance your application and allows us to fully assess your creative potential, to explain, to illustrate, to demonstrate, to highlight strengths and present your application holistically.

The process and how to prepare

Once your application has been seen by the admissions team, they will invite you to an interview by email. You will be given a choice of dates, and can request a different date if you need to.

If you need any special consideration or assistance during the interview, please contact Megan Knight, the admissions tutor and please let us know in advance.

If you can’t attend the interview, please let us know, and we can rearrange.

On the day

This is not a job interview, so you don’t need to wear a suit if you don’t want to. The important thing is that we want to know who you are, and so you should be comfortable and ready to talk about yourself.

During the interview, we will look at your portfolio, and the interviewer will ask about you, your work and your aspirations. We are genuinely interested in you and your work and may ask you to talk about exhibitions you may have visited, artists or designers you admire as well as your work and enthusiasm for the course.

During your time with us, we will provide you with more information about the University so you can make sure that it's the right choice for you. This will help inform and confirm your interest in us. There will also be an opportunity to look around our facilities if you haven't already done so.

What happens next

After your Interview the tutor may give you immediate feedback, and a decision will be made on your application through UCAS Track, or directly, if you have applied directly. If you have not heard within a few days, or have any further questions, you can contact the interviewer directly (you will have been given their details) or contact the admissions tutor, Megan Knight.
