Professor David Bonner

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Professor David Bonner, who passed away unexpectedly at the end of October.

David worked for the University (and Hatfield Polytechnic) from 1977 to 2013, including working as Director of Studies and then Head of the Department of Civil Engineering until 1997, Associate Dean of Faculty (Academic Quality) from 1999 to 2001, Director of Academic Quality Assurance and Enhancement, and Director of Academic Quality (Learning and Teaching, and Collaborative Partnerships) from 2001 to 2008.

David played a key role in the development of the University’s business-facing approach through UH Ventures from 2008 to 2013. On retiring in 2013 David became an Emeritus Professor and continued in a consultancy role for Navitas and various other private colleges in the UK.

Our thoughts are with David’s family and friends at this sad time.
