On this page, you will find a list of the current clinical trials in Toxicology.
Please download the participant information sheet and the medical screening sheet, listed by each trial, for more information and for the eligibility criteria.
All our clinical trials are reviewed and approved by an independent research ethics committee prior to recruitment.

Protocol: acLMS/SF/UH/02476(2)
Hair and skin decontamination trial to investigate the effect of individual actions upon the distribution of simulant contamination in human volunteers.
This series of trials will investigate various methods for decontaminating hair and skin using a non-toxic mixture to simulate exposure to a hazardous material.
In this way, we can determine the likely distribution of contamination on the body and thus the most effective and practical way of removing the contaminant.
The results from this study will work towards an improved set of guidelines and procedures for emergency responders to deal with chemical incidents.
The Toxicology Research Group is primarily concerned with preventing adverse health effects caused by exposure of the skin and lungs to potentially toxic materials.
Our work on the development of new detection technologies, diagnostic techniques, improved treatments and emergency management guidelines are integral to eliminating or reducing the detrimental effects of such exposure to hazardous materials.
The Research Group works closely with UK and international governments, as well as other academic and industry partners.
If you would like to express an interest in participating in our upcoming studies, please contact us by email at research-trials@herts.ac.uk and we will send you an information pack.
We maintain a database of participants who would like to be notified about upcoming trials. If you are over 18, generally healthy and interested in taking part in other clinical trials, please get in touch with us.
