Projects in optical networks
Overview
Our Research in Next-generation Access Networks has been funded nationally as well as the European commission: Successful projects have helped establish our expertise and generate research outcomes in colourless PON architectures and hybrid TDM/WDM routing and more recently in OFDMA-PONs and the backhauling of LTE networks.
Layer 2 work has generated significant outcomes in dynamic MAC protocols and algorithms for long-reach TDMA and OFDMA PONs with wavelength band overlay.
