If you need any help with your off-campus accommodation, support is available from the University, Hertfordshire Students’ Union and other local services.

Community Liaison & Support Officer (Dean of Students Office)
The University has a dedicated Community Liaison and Support Officer who is responsible for the welfare, pastoral care and discipline of students living in private off-campus accommodation, including those who commute into Hatfield. They are based on both campuses throughout the working week.
They are able to help with many issues including:
- Housing and tenancy problems
- Neighbourhood disputes
- Landlord and letting agent concerns
- Promoting the PAL Scheme
The Community Liaison and Support Officer is also the point of contact for Hatfield residents experiencing student-related concerns.

Hertfordshire Students’ Union Advice and Support Centre
Herts students have access to the Hertfordshire Students’ Union Advice & Support Centre. The Advisors provide free, confidential and impartial advice regarding a variety of issues, including Housing. A free weekly legal advice clinic (term-time only) is also available to students.
As a Tenant, you will need to understand your rights and responsibilities before you sign a contract.

University of Hertfordshire’s Policing team
The University has a dedicated policing team who you will see patrolling in and around campus. The team investigate student related incidents, crimes and concerns.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council
The Private Sector Housing team work to ensure that people renting in private sector are living in safe and well-maintained housing. If your Landlord or Letting Agent is failing to rectify outstanding repairs within a reasonable timescale, or you are experiencing Landlord Harassment or Illegal Eviction, the team may be able to provide you with additional support. The University’s Community Liaison & Support Officer may refer cases to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council for further investigation, if necessary.

Citizens Advice Welwyn Hatfield
This service offers free, confidential and impartial advice.
Hatfield Drop-in service: 09:30 – 14:00 Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (excluding Bank Holidays)

UH Student Wellbeing
Student Wellbeing delivers a range of professional, specialist services to support students with emotional, mental health, disability and health related issues. This includes counselling, disability and mental health services. They also link in with the University Medical Centre.
Located on the 1st Floor of Hutton Hub, College Lane campus, Student Wellbeing services are delivered by trained and experienced staff. A holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of our services is taken within Student Wellbeing to ensure that you get the best support possible.

International Student Support Advice Service
If you are an International Student, the International Student Advisers (part of the International Student Support Team) are specifically trained to supply immigration advice and guidance to staff and students, in accordance with OISC regulations.

Report and Support
We are committed to providing a positive experience for all students and staff and our University will not condone any form of bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, assault and discrimination.
The online forms enable students and staff to report anonymously or seek advice from an adviser. If you have witnessed or experienced an incident you feel uncomfortable with, you can report these directly to the Office of the Dean of Students. If you are worried about someone else, you can also report this using these forms.
The information you provide will helps us to be aware of incidents which happen on campus and the local area.
