Adult nurses looking after patient at home

My week at a glance

The MSc in Adult nursing is a blend of classroom learning and clinical experiences, so my week usually varies depending on the time of the semester. During the classroom teaching weeks, I am at university three to five days a week to attend classes from the truly knowledgeable and accommodating staff at the School of Health and Social Work. These classes take place at various locations across both campuses. The bulk of classes were at Collage Lane Campus, however, there were some instances when classes were at the De Havilland Campus. All our simulation and practical classes took place at Meridian House which is a UH (University of Hertfordshire) building remarkably close to ASDA. The most interesting classes for me were the practical classes because it supplied hands-on experience and real-life simulated exercises.

When I am not in the classroom, I am on a clinical placement, which usually take place in NHS or care home settings. Clinical placements are my favorite part of nursing because it is where I learn the most about practical application and supply optimal care for patients. This is where I make the links to all the classroom skills and knowledge I have learnt and apply them to real-life practical scenarios. It is also the place where I gained a lot of new knowledge and interact with patients, their families, and members of the heath care team.
