This module introduces you to the foundational skills required to succeed in modern Business and FinTech workplaces, such as effective communication, digital literacy, analytical thinking, team collaboration and time and task management skills, modelling the UH graduate attributes. You will also be introduced to critical skills for Business and Fintech relevant to your programme of study such as data analysis, investment, and management. The module provides experiential learning through workshops and real-world projects to build confidence and competence. Students have the additional opportunity to obtain badges as they compete with peers to develop skills including financial literacy, presentation techniques, career exploration, personal branding and networking, emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, data skills, and Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.

This module will help you explore with curiosity the career pathways that you might want to follow after graduation. This module supports students as they transition into university by developing essential academic, digital, and personal skills. Through a diagnostic and tutor-led check-ins, students build a tailored development plan and complete a core skills pathway. This module will prepare you to become responsible future leaders and to contribute positively to society through the exploration of social enterprise. The focus is on understanding the practical considerations and offers you the opportunity to work as part of a team to develop a social enterprise concept. This will provide you with practical entrepreneurship experience and develop work-ready skills. This course offers you the opportunity to enhance your study and CV with a sandwich year abroad. The University has partnerships with over 150 universities around the world, including the USA, Canada, Asia, Africa, Australia, South America and closer to home in Europe.

If you study abroad between your second and third year of study, you’ll pay no tuition fee to the partner university and no tuition fee to us either. We’ll ask you to make your decision in your second year, so there is plenty of time to think about it.

You'll be taught on our modern de Havilland Campus, with our 24/7 Learning Resources Centre, offering open and private study spaces. You also get online self-study materials to further support you.

There are dining options, a bar, and a recreational space on campus where you can shoot some pool or play video games. It also houses Hertfordshire Sports Village, featuring a gym, swimming pool, coffee shop and climbing wall.

The Student Union bar and additional facilities are only a 20 minute walk (or short bus ride) away at our second campus, on College Lane. Student housing is available at both campuses.
