University life and experience

Before starting university, Charlie knew he wanted to use his knowledge and degree to travel the World and experience different cultures. Charlie thoroughly researched his university choices and decided that the University of Hertfordshire ticked all of the boxes.

Charlie explained that he initially chose the University ‘due to the opportunities to study aboard and its close connections to London.’ However, his course also offered a lot of flexibility and a wide variety of modules enabling him to tailor his course to his professional aspirations and personal interests in journalism and public relations.

The University of Hertfordshire offers students the unique opportunity to study abroad at one of our partner universities for a year on many of our courses. Charlie took full advantage of this incredible opportunity and studied for a year at California State University Long Beach (CSULB) in the United States of America. The opportunity provided him with amazing memories he will never forget.

‘I was lucky enough to study abroad with a course-mate, and for that I am incredibly grateful. The experience made us very close as we helped each other grow and we shared a lot of amazing adventures. Whenever we catch up, we always reminisce about all the fantastic times we had at both Hertfordshire and CSULB.’

Plans for the future

After graduation, Charlie moved to California near to where he studied at CSULB where he works as a Luxury Real Estate Assistant. He really enjoys the industry and is constantly looking for new opportunities to grow whether that is by utilising his skillset in social media or by establishing strong working relationships with clients and peers. In the future he hopes to become a specialist in a particular area, he says, ‘Whether that be English cottage-style homes or luxury condominiums, I am not sure yet! Right now I’m just immersing myself in every opportunity.’

‘I strive to work as hard as possible now, so that I am able to achieve a lifestyle that allows me to split my time 50/50 between Beverly Hills and the UK.’
