Full terms and conditions

  1. The Prize Draw is open only to registered students of the University of Hertfordshire Higher Education Corporation (“University of Hertfordshire”) aged 18 and over who provide their student ID after completing the survey. Only those with a registered ID will be entered into the Prize Draw.
  2. Employees or partner agencies of University of Hertfordshire Higher Education Corporation (including its group partners) or their family members, or anyone else connected with the Prize Draw may not enter the Prize Draw.
  3. Entrants into the Prize Draw shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions. The University of Hertfordshire reserves the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  4. To enter the Prize Draw you must complete one of the seven surveys as part of the Voice It campaign 2019.  If you have any questions about how to enter or in connection with the Prize Draw, please e-mail us at insight@herts.ac.uk with "Student Pulse Surveys" in the subject line.
  5. There are a total of seven separate surveys associated to this Prize Draw. Entrants are only required to complete one survey to be included within the Prize Draw.
  6. Entrants are welcome to complete as many of the seven surveys they wish but will only be included in the Prize Draw once and only one entry per person will be accepted.
  7. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
  8. University of Hertfordshire accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt by University of Hertfordshire.
  9. The opening date for entries is 00:01 on 4 November 2019. The closing date of the Prize Draw is 23.59 on 15 December 2019.  Entries received outside this time period will not be accepted.
  10. There are a total of six prizes. One top prize and 5 runner-up prizes. These include:

  1. One winner will be chosen for each prize from a random draw of entries received in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.  The draw will be performed by a random computer process and the prizes will be allocated in the order set out above.  The draw will take place by 19 December 2019.
  2. University of Hertfordshire accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with the prize and not specifically included in the prize (including, without limitation, additional travel expense).
  3. University of Hertfordshire will match the provided student IDs to the registered UH email address. The winners will be notified by email on or before 20 December 2019 and must acknowledge receipt of the email to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond to University of Hertfordshire within 14 days of being notified, then the winner's prize will be forfeited and University of Hertfordshire shall be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above (and that winner will have to respond to notification of their win within 14 days or else they will also forfeit their prize).  If a winner rejects their prize or the entry is invalid or in breach of these Terms and Conditions, the winner's prize will be forfeited and University of Hertfordshire shall be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above.
  4. The winners of each prize will be required to collect their prize from the Marketing team based in the Maclaurin Building on the De Havilland Campus, Hatfield. The prize collection date and time will be agreed with each winner privately through email.
  5. The University of Hertfordshire must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the University of Hertfordshire will send the surname and county of prize winners to anyone who emails insight@herts.ac.uk or writes to Simon Hume, Marketing and Communications, 4 Bishops Square, MacLaurin Building, Hatfield, AL10 9NE (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month after the closing date stated in condition 9. If you object to any or all of your surname and county being published or made available, please contact the University of Hertfordshire by emailing insight@herts.ac.uk. In such circumstances, the University of Hertfordshire must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
  6. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
  7. University of Hertfordshire retains the right to substitute the prize with another prize of similar value in the event the original prize offered is not available.
  8. The winner may be required to take part in promotional activity related to the Prize Draw and the winner shall participate in such activity on University of Hertfordshire's reasonable request.  The winner consents to the use by University of Hertfordshire, both before and after the closing date of the Prize Draw for a reasonable time, of the winner's voice, image, photograph and name for publicity purposes (in any medium, including still photographs and films, and on the internet, including any websites hosted by University of Hertfordshire) and in advertising, marketing or promotional material without additional compensation or prior notice and, in entering the Prize Draw, all entrants consent to the same.
  9. University of Hertfordshire shall use and take care of any personal information you supply to it as described in its privacy policy, a copy of which can be seen on the website, https://www.herts.ac.uk/about-us/legal/privacy. By entering the Prize Draw, you agree to the collection, retention, usage and distribution of your personal information in order to process and contact you about your Prize Draw entry, and for the purposes outlined above.
  10. University of Hertfordshire accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Prize Draw or accepting the prize. University of Hertfordshire further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to your or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Prize Draw. University of Hertfordshire will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the University of Hertfordshire or that of their employees. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude the liability of University of Hertfordshire for death, personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation as a result of its negligence. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  11. University of Hertfordshire reserves the right at any time and from time to time to cancel, suspend, modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this Prize Draw with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud) or where it becomes necessary to do so.
  12. .The decision of University of Hertfordshire in all matters under its control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  13. University of Hertfordshire shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
  14. The Prize Draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the Prize Draw submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
