A postgraduate degree is an advanced qualification taken after completing an undergraduate degree. It includes master's degrees (like an MSc or MA), Doctoral degrees (such as a PhD), and specialised diplomas or certificates. These programs offer deeper expertise in a specific field, often involving research, advanced coursework, and practical experience. They are designed to enhance knowledge, skills, and career prospects.
You should get a response within three weeks. Please check the email account used for your application, both inbox and junk mailbox. There may be a request for more information or an email from us with our decision. If you have not received anything, please email Ask Herts and our admissions team will investigate this for you. In the meantime, to help keep you informed about events, subject talks and support before joining Herts we recommend you join our mailing list.
We recommend accepting your place as soon as possible to guarantee it for the start of term. Don’t delay, as there are limited places on our courses, and they may close once full. We don’t want you to miss out.

Living in halls isn't exclusive to undergraduates. Many of our postgraduate students also choose on-campus accommodation, and we strive to house them together in our halls. We have an exclusive postgraduate block on the de Havilland Campus.
We're based in Hatfield and have great transport links to the surrounding towns and cities. We are near both Hatfield and St. Albans train stations, making it easy to get to us and to explore the area. Take a look at some of the activities our students enjoy.
A postgraduate taught degree focuses on coursework and exams and aims to deepen knowledge and practical skills in a particular area. A postgraduate research degree centres on independent research, culminating in a thesis or dissertation. The emphasis of a research degree is on independent study and aims to contribute new knowledge to your field of interest.
With postgraduate courses, you can apply up until the course starts. However, places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and once a course is full, we will close the intake for that semester.

We offer a range of scholarships, grants and bursaries to support our postgraduate students. You might also get help from your employer.
We run several postgraduate events throughout the year with current students, staff and alumni, as well as campus tours and virtual tours to help give you a flavour of life at Herts.
Our courses don't just fire up your imagination, they help you develop the skills and experience you'll need to get the job you want after graduation. Our Careers and Employment team provides up to four years of career support after graduating and a variety of networking events and opportunities to help you make industry connections, find work or gain work placements to help you master your dream.
We offer excellent travel links and our own bus network with student discounts, making it easy and affordable to get around.
