Online internships run for eight weeks at 15 hours per week, offering flexibility around your studies, and give you access to over 250,000 fully remote opportunities across 18 career fields. With no commuting required, you can complete your internship from anywhere, build employer–valued skills, and graduate with a University of Hertfordshire completion certificate and recognised work experience to strengthen your CV.

Who can apply?

Online internships are open to current campus-based postgraduate taught students.

Internships run on a rolling basis, with one or two start dates each month, allowing you to begin at a time that suits you. Each start date has its own application deadline, and you must apply at least six weeks in advance, giving you flexibility to plan your internship around your academic timetable.

To be considered for an online internship, you must complete an application. Your application will then be reviewed for eligibility.

To complete your online internship, you must complete a full 120 hours (total) of your internship. This is done as 15 hours per week over an eight-week period.

No, this is a voluntary, university-funded programme designed to provide structured work experience alongside postgraduate study.

No, there is no cost to access an online internship.

Home students are not subject to a legal limit on working hours and may choose to take on part-time work alongside the internship, provided you can balance your workload comfortably.

International students can usually work up to 20 hours per week during term time in line with Student visa conditions. If your internship is around 15 hours per week, you may be able to take on up to an additional five hours of part-time work, bringing your total to the 20-hour maximum permitted under UKVI regulations and your CAS.
