Course content

This module aims to provide opportunities for the transfer academic and vocational learning into a work-related setting, and vice versa to bring work-place skills and issues into the academic and vocational learning environment. Thus, the course should help to develop good evidence based working practices, and enhance associated knowledge and skills, with a view to improving both student employability and critical reflective practice. This module will also offer an array of potential opportunities for continuing development of their personal transferable skills.

In addition this course is directed toward preparing students for a future research project. Students are introduced to research traditions and philosophies within the context of business and sport. The concept of research design is explored, with an emphasis on the role of literature in informing a realistic research proposal. Both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis will be examined.

To study on this course, applicants will normally have:

  • Professional experience of high performance sport
  • 200-280 UCAS points or equivalent
  • GCSE: English language and Maths grade A-C
