Centre for Research in Primary and Community Care

The University of Hertfordshire has an international research reputation within the areas of primary and community care contributing to 4 inter-related programme areas:
- Adolescent and Child Health
- Older People’s Health and Complex Conditions
- Patient Experience
- Evidence Based Practice
International links such as collaborations with researchers in Canada, USA, Japan, S.Korea and throughout the EU have led to international recognition of our work, demonstrated by competitive visiting fellows from Spain and Japan and visiting professorship status for three staff.
Key performance indicators
Recognition of our achievements is reflected by key performance indicators since 2008:
- Evidence of significant reach and impact of research on health and welfare
- Research grant income of more than £4m since 2008 from sources including the NIHR, EU, MRC, ESRC, FSA, BritishCouncil, medical charities and other government sources
- Further significant EU funding and development of EU and wider international partnerships
- Medical Research Council funding
- Increase in number of postgraduate research students to more than 80
- Expansion and development of the Patient and Public Involvement in Research strategy
- Award to provide the NIHR/CNO Masters in Clinical Research programme
- Award to provide the NIHR/CNO Mentorship Programme for Clinical Academic Researchers in Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions and Healthcare scientists
