Fees

Sandwich programmes offer students the chance to take a placement or study abroad year, normally between years 2 and 3. If you're studying a sandwich programme at Herts, we will not charge tuition fees during your sandwich year.

Some courses have additional costs for things like trips or special equipment. Depending on your course, you may need to buy equipment such as art supplies or laboratory overalls. You may also need to pay towards a field trip.

Some courses have integrated placements, and you may be required to cover accommodation or additional commute costs to your placement.

Information about any additional costs associated with your course can be found in the programme specification on the course pages.

You should also ensure you have researched the cost of living in the UK so you can budget for everyday expenses such as rent, bills, food and travel.

The University of Hertfordshire has responsibility for determining your tuition fee status. We are obliged to follow UK Government regulations when making tuition fee assessments.

University tuition fees are charged at a rate depending on your fee status. These rates are:

• Home
• Overseas (International)

The rate you are charged depends on numerous factors such as:

• your nationality
• your immigration status in the UK
• where you have been living
• what you have been doing for the three years prior to the start of your course.

Assessments of tuition fee status are carried out on an individual basis and take into account the circumstances of each applicant. As an international student requiring a Student visa, it is most likely you will be assigned an overseas fee status.

The Fees and Finance Policy is an important document that outlines all our tuition fees and when they become payable.

If you require the University to sponsor you for a Student Visa, you will need to pay a minimum deposit before your CAS is released to you. The deposit goes towards your initial year tuition fees.

Deposit amount: £5,000 minimum (some courses require a higher deposit)

Full refunds are issued if your visa is refused or you do not meet the academic or financial conditions of your offer, or if you change your mind within 14 days of accepting your offer. Other circumstance may incur a non-refundable charge. Terms and conditions apply which will be included as part of your offer.

Where funds are received and consequently 'charge backed'  by credit card companies the University reserves the right to refuse to sponsor in these cases and to insist funds are paid via alternative payment methods.
