Become an Alumni Ambassador

What is an Alumni Ambassador?

An Alumni Ambassador is a Herts graduate who chooses to stay part of our story, sharing their insight and experience to support the next generation of students.

There are many ways to get involved – you might speak at events, mentor a student, or support employability initiatives. Opportunities are flexible, so you can shape your involvement around your career and commitments.

Being an ambassador is also an opportunity to build your confidence, strengthen your professional profile, and expand your network.

Ways to get involved

From mentoring students to speaking at events, discover the flexible ways to make an impact as an Alumni Ambassador.

Inspire students with a short, written profile or video about your time at Herts and your career journey since graduating. You can share your story now by completing our online form, which has guided questions for you to complete, and we’ll contact you if we feature your story.

Tell us about your professional or personal achievements, award wins or milestones. If we can feature your news, we’ll get in touch to celebrate it with the Herts community.

Produce a blog, article or short video based on your knowledge or industry insight. Tell us your area of interest, and we’ll contact you if your story is used for publication.

Add a strong addition to your skill set by volunteering to speak at an in-person or online event. Events take place throughout the year, and we’ll match you with suitable opportunities based on what you studied and your graduating year. You’ll receive a full brief and support before the event.

Our Careers team hosts a range of employability sessions you can get involved in. This includes things like running practise job interviews for students and hosting skills sessions to build workplace confidence.

We’ve developed a new Career Mentoring Programme that invites Alumni from all industries to mentor recent Herts graduates as they take their next steps. Mentors and Mentees are carefully matched, and both participants will be supported over a structured time frame.

Organising an online or in-person reunion is a great way to reconnect with classmates. Plan your reunion your way and let us know if you'd like to visit campus. You can learn more and get support with invitations, planning, and connecting with fellow graduates and staff on our hosting a reunion on campus page.

By giving to the University Student Trust Fund, you can help ensure all students get the most out of their university experience and achieve more in the future as a result. Every donation, however small, can make a big difference.
