Who should attend this course?

All healthcare professionals with an interest in the nature and source of human error and / or medical simulation. The module should also be of interest to Clinical Governance / Clinical Risk Managers and those involved with the Patient Safety Agenda.

Course content

The module will require participation in clinically-based medical emergency simulation events aimed at presenting the student with significant challenges in all aspects of patient-centred clinical decision making. The course will involve examination of contemporary approaches in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidenced risk management strategies applied to medical emergency situations.

Teaching methods

Where is the module taught and by whom?

This module is taught at the University of Hertfordshire College Lane Campus, Hatfield. This module will be taught by Ken Spearpoint.

Computer Equipment Requirement

Delivery of the module incorporates blended learning which aims to combine e-learning activities with campus based learning. You need to have access to a suitable personal computer and a good reliable Internet connection (broadband recommended). Most modern PCs or Macs (less than 3 years old) should be suitable. If you have any queries or need any additional support with IT skills, the School employs an e-learning technologist who will be pleased to help and advise you.
