Intermediate/Refresher Course in Statistics

About the course

This course is about a range of popular statistical techniques. It can be a refresher for those who have learned Statistics some time ago or intermediate course for those who need to learn statistical techniques in a way that goes beyond the basics.

This course is aimed at those who wish to improve their competence and confidence in analysing data from surveys and experiments. You are encouraged to bring your own data for discussion/analysis.

The topics covered in this course are hypothesis testing (as a refresher), regression (as a refresher), measures of association between variables (e.g. phi, gamma, Cramer’s V, correlation), two and multi-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) including interactions, power calculations for sample size determination. These topics will be demonstrated using SPSS.
