University of Hertfordshire 37th university in the UK
The University of Hertfordshire has been ranked 37th in the Guardian University Guide 2027, rising 12 places from last year to achieve its highest-ever position and cement its status as a UK top 40 university.
Published today (Saturday, 12 September), the University also achieved some outstanding results at subject level, with their animation and game design and social work courses both ranked the best in the UK, alongside top ten positions for their education (4th) and electrical and electronic engineering (6th) courses.
Assessing institutions on factors including student satisfaction, teaching quality, assessment and feedback, continuation rates and graduate outcomes, the Guardian University Guide is one of the UK's most influential university rankings and widely regarded as one of the most important measures of undergraduate success in UK higher education.

The Guardian result follows a period of significant momentum for Herts. Earlier this year, the University was ranked the top university in the East of England for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2026 and 14th out of 123 UK institutions nationally. It was also ranked seventh out of 105 universities in the 2026 Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) and ranked a top UK university for graduate (35 out of 128 UK institutions) in the Daily Mail University Guide 2027.
