Herts ranked 7th in the UK in latest postgraduate survey

The University of Hertfordshire has been ranked seventh from 105 universities in the 2026 Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), with an overall satisfaction score of 93%.

Herts was ranked first in three individual subjects: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Business and Management: HR Management, and Physiotherapy. Herts was ranked second for Business and Management: Finance.

Excellent results were also recorded for other subjects including Law, Architecture, Building and Planning and Business and Management: Marketing.

Compiled by higher education and research charity Advance HE, PTES is based on feedback from almost 5,900 postgraduate taught students, representing an excellent response rate of 49.5% and providing a robust picture of the postgraduate experience at the University.

Besides overall satisfaction, the University was ranked inside the top 10 across all categories of questions responded to by postgraduate students:  dissertation, sense of community, online learning resources, assessment, skills development, support, engagement, teaching and organisation.

The PTES results follow the University being ranked 14th out of 123 UK universities for student satisfaction after achieving its strongest-ever performance in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2026.

Together with our recent NSS results, the PTES findings provide further evidence of the consistently high-quality experience students receive at Herts, whether studying at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

“These fantastic results reflect the collective effort of colleagues across the University and are a testament to the work we have done over the last year to support our postgraduate students. It’s rewarding to see that our students have recognised and appreciated all the work that has been carried out to help them achieve their goals.”
