We provide different information for UK and international students.

One last step before officially joining Herts

Completing your registration confirms your place at Herts and unlocks everything you need to get started, including your timetable, student ID card, university systems and, if applicable, your student finance payments

Before teaching begins, you'll need to complete your registration through the registration portal. This is where you'll confirm your personal details, provide any required documents and check that all registration tasks have been completed. You can find a list of everything you'll need to upload to the registration document portal on Ask Herts.

Once you've submitted everything, our Student Enrolment team will review your registration and contact you if we need any additional information. Keep an eye on your emails and registration portal so you don't miss any updates.

What happens next?

Once your registration has been approved, you'll have access to the systems, services and support you'll use throughout your time at Herts.

After registration, you'll be able to:

  • access your timetable and teaching materials;
  • use university systems and online services;
  • collect and activate your student ID card;
  • access library, printing and campus facilities;
  • receive your Student Finance payment (if applicable)

FAQs

Complete your registration as soon as you're invited. If you delay completing your registration, you may not be able to start your course.

Your joining portal will update to 'Registration complete" after all steps are complete. We will also contact you if any information is missing.

You may need to include documents such as photo ID, Student Finance details, sponsorship information or evidence of a name change.

Most UK/home students do not need an in-person appointment, although if you are studying on a time-limited visa you will be contacted to make an appointment. Visit an Ask Herts Hub if you cannot upload your photo or need support with registration.

Once you're registered, you'll receive information about collecting and activating your ID card from an Ask Herts Hub. You’ll need photographic identification.

Update your card at campus access points after collection. Use it for buildings, attendance, library services, printing, and travel. Keep it updated regularly to maintain access.
