Sam Jury

Artist

Sam's research in concerned with the impact of slow violence and trauma in a range of contexts, notably her long-standing work in post-conflict Abkhazia, collaborating with local partners to develop new methods of art practices through the mediums of film, theatre, performance and installation. She frequently collaborates with the University of Hertfordshire psychologists, deploying artistic research methods to reframe conditions such as Tourette’s Syndrome and, along with stakeholder focus groups, lived experiences of neurodiversity. She is currently Principal Investigator on several AHRC Impact Accelerator Awards and is Director of the Professional Doctorate in Fine Art.

Rob Godman

Rob is Reader in Music and as well as his concert hall, film and gallery pieces, he has worked as a composer and sound designer on large-scale public art projects. Future-proofing ‘old tech’, making it performable, and bringing these works to a new audience has become central to his arts practice. The relationship between art and science, interdisciplinary methods, and spatial properties of sound are pivotal. More recently, he has explored environmental sound through field recording – discovering sounds that are largely ‘invisible’ to the human experience.
