At the University of Hertfordshire, we are dedicated to advancing groundbreaking technologies that deliver lasting, real-world impact.
Through leading major partnerships with academia, industry, and the public sector in biodetection and healthcare, we are designing pioneering systems to detect and monitor invisible airborne threats while enabling researchers and entrepreneurs to bring new healthcare technologies to market and improve patient outcomes.
We actively champion interdisciplinary, business-driven collaborations that bridge leading-edge research and practical application. From driving innovation in future telecoms and AI that will transform how we connect and communicate, to applying emerging technologies in smart manufacturing and sustainable food production, we are creating scalable solutions that fuel economic growth and deliver real societal benefit – helping to shape a world that is more connected, healthier, and environmentally responsible.
Impact of our research
"I’m a biomedical engineer and a neuroscientist who specialises in neurorehabilitation engineering. I’m currently working with a leading manufacturer to develop a next-generation wearable therapeutic device that provides remote rehabilitation treatment in the home for patients with spasticity (after a stroke, for example). It’s exciting to see our ideas turning into real-world benefit for patients."
