Make the most of your nights

When the sun goes down, student life comes alive. Whether you’re heading out on campus, exploring local bars or stepping into London’s world-famous club scene, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your nights.

Nights out on campus

For many students, nights out start at The Forum – the heart of campus nightlife. Located on College Lane Campus, it brings together club spaces including The Loft and Seventy7 to host regular student nights, themed parties, society takeovers and DJ sets. If you fancy a slower pace with a few drinks before you head out, then EleHouse, also on College Lane, is the place to go with its outside seating area and cosy atmosphere.

Expect everything from chart music and throwback anthems to themed dress-up nights and live entertainment, with weekly events that make it easy to head out for a memorable night of fun, dancing and socialising, right here on campus. Plus, because it’s only minutes from student accommodation, it’s also a nice, easy stagger home.

Clubbing in Hertfordshire

Beyond campus, Hertfordshire’s nightlife stretches across towns including Watford, St Albans and Stevenage, giving students plenty of nearby options for bigger nights out.

In Watford, Popworld is known for themed nights, neon dancefloors and playlists packed with 90s, 2000s and chart favourites, making it a popular choice for student groups and celebrations.

St Albans offers a slightly different atmosphere, with cocktail bars such as The Beech House and Tequila Mockingbird spread across the city centre. For something a little different, Stevenage is home to Battle Bar, where you can combine a night out with activities such as darts and axe throwing and be sure to check out the famous toilet disco. Together, these nearby towns give you easy access to different nightlife scenes without needing to travel far from campus.

Your local bars and pubs

Sometimes the best nights are the more relaxed ones, and Hertfordshire has plenty of bars and pubs where students can unwind, meet friends and ease into the evening.

Close to campus, the local Wetherspoon a popular designation for students to head for food, drinks and casual evenings before moving on elsewhere. Its large outdoor space and laid-back atmosphere make it especially busy during warmer months.

The Horn combines live music with late-night events inside one of the city’s best-known independent venues, while Mad Squirrel Watford offers craft beer, DJs and a more social bar atmosphere just outside Watford town centre.
