We welcome applicants from around the world and often accept local country qualifications in line with the course entry requirements. If you have qualifications from South Africa, we can review your eligibility for your programme of interest. Just send in copies of your academic transcripts and awards when you make your application. Alongside our UK team, we also have representatives in your country who can assist you with your application.

Regional qualifications and entry requirements

For the majority of our programmes, we typically accept the following qualifications from South Africa:

South African National Senior Certificate

  • Business and Humanities - National Senior Certificate with 6,5,5,5,5
  • Engineering - National Senior Certificate 6,6,6,5,5. Please note that for courses where there is a requirement to have an equivalent to A Level maths that you will need to have studied full Maths rather than Maths Literacy in your NSC
  • Sciences - National Senior Certificate 6,6,6,5,5
  • Creative Arts - National Senior Certificate with 5,5,5,5,5 plus portfolio where required.
IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band.
National Senior Certificate with 5 or above in English also accepted.
Undergraduate (year 2/3)No agreed progression routes in place - if you apply to the University following part completion of a degree, or completion of a diploma, your application will be individually assessed.IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band. 
National Senior Certificate with 5 or above in English also accepted.
Postgraduate taughtBachelor's Degree (4 Years) - 2.2 classification.IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 (depending on course) with no less than 5.5 in any band.
