Employment Litigant in Person Scheme

This project sees the Law School partnering with the Employment Lawyers Association, allowing our students to take part in their Employment Litigant In Person Support Scheme (ELIPS). This scheme gives students the opportunity to shadow experienced employment solicitors as they provide one-off legal advice to unrepresented parties about to appear at their Employment Tribunal hearing.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to work alongside leading employment law solicitors from across the country and enhance their understanding of employment law and the procedure with employment tribunals.

The students get training from ELiPS and then shadow the advice sessions on line, and then write up an Attendance Note. This provides students with a great opportunity to use practical skills and broaden their relevant experiences. They also have the chance to network with solicitors, which can lead to employability opportunities.

The scheme also provides a huge benefit to those litigants in person who would otherwise have no advice or support before their hearing.
