Why Astrophysics at Herts?

For Andrew, choosing Astrophysics was written in the stars. A lifelong fascination with the universe made the decision an easy one, he says, "I’ve always been passionate about astronomy, and I loved the variety of optional modules available at the University of Hertfordshire, and the opportunity to study hands-on at the Bayfordbury Observatory really stood out. The University has a strong reputation for teaching and research, alongside exceptional facilities, and it offered the perfect environment to pursue my interests."

Memorable Moments at Herts

Andrew’s time at university wasn’t just about gaining knowledge; it was about the experiences that shaped him along the way. Some of his fondest memories are simple but meaningful: "Spending time with friends and discovering fascinating insights about the universe. These moments made my degree both enjoyable and deeply rewarding."

Hands-on learning was another highlight, "From practical astronomy sessions at Bayfordbury to working closely with lecturers, I had the chance to bring theory to life. My research projects and dissertation allowed me to dive even deeper into the subject, building skills that would later define my career."

A career in data

After graduating, Andrew began his professional journey with Digital Futures, stepping into a role that brings his analytical mindset and technical expertise to life every single day. Working with data, Andrew draws constantly on the skills he first developed at Herts. "My course focused heavily on data analysis and statistics, which now make up most of my day-to-day work.
