Hertfordshire Support at Court
Support for attending a court case without representation
(the first hearing in most private Children Cases)

“I am the Designated Family Judge for Hertfordshire (Watford & Hertford courts) which means I am the Judge responsible for how family law is administered locally, and implementing guidance from the President of the Family Division.
I am very grateful to the University of Hertfordshire for all their work in setting up this project.
If you do not have a solicitor or barrister representing you at your FHDRA hearing you can represent yourself and there is assistance from the national helpline “Support Through Court” on 03000 810 006.
Hertfordshire’s Support at Court project can also assist you."
His Honour Judge David Vavrecka, Designated Family Judge for Hertfordshire
The University’s Support at Court service provides FREE practical and emotional support to parties attending court without a legal representative. Our specially trained law students will meet you in the waiting room at court and help you to prepare for the hearing itself. They CANNOT provide any legal advice, but can explain the general process and procedure; help you organise papers; help you plan what you want to say in the hearing; take notes during the hearing; and signpost you for ongoing help.”
