Through to 2030, our aim is to ensure our students are equipped for success and are ready to succeed and secure positive outcomes aligned to their career aspirations once they leave university.

As an anchor institution in the region, we’re uniquely placed to respond to employers’ talent development challenges. To do this, we will continue to co-create a high-quality curriculum with industry and our partners that is focused on subject and discipline, graduate attributes, enterprise, entrepreneurship and career development. We will also expand lifelong learning opportunities to meet the evolving needs of students and employers.

  • use our Student Engagement and Success plan, which focuses on education developing students’ skills for life;
  • deliver innovative, inclusive and authentic approaches to teaching, learning and assessment supported by strong personal and academic skills support;
  • continue our longstanding commitment to research informed teaching and blended learning;
  • further enhance our learning resources, estate, processes and systems to enable our students to maximise their learning;
  • instil a culture of reflection and innovation, to deliver inclusive and authentic experiences to our diverse community of students.

How we're making progress...

Our commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience is already gaining national recognition. We are:

  • ranked 37th in the UK, our highest ever position in the Guardian University Guide;
  • ranked 59th in The Times University Guide 2027, climbing eight places;
  • the top university in the east of England and 14th in the country for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2026;
  • ranked seventh in the country in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey 2026;
  • Ranked sixth in the UK by students for our state-of-the-art facilities in the 2025 WhatUni Student Choice Awards.

In 2023, we earned a silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework, and our ambition is to achieve gold in 2027.
