Find your community

Student societies are a big part of life at Herts, giving you the chance to meet new people, explore shared interests and build a social network alongside your studies. Whether you’re immersed in an existing passion or discovering something new, they help you shape university life exactly how you want it.

With over 100 societies to choose from, there are plenty of ways to get involved. You can explore academic, cultural, active and social communities, or even take on a leadership role. With the support of Hertfordshire Students' Union (Herts SU), you'll be able to organise events that students speak about for many years to come.

Create a new society

Can't find a society that matches your interests? Start one! Whether it's a long-standing interest, a niche hobby, a cultural community or something completely new, you can bring students together around what matters to you and leave your mark on student life at Herts long after you've graduated.

Starting a society gives you the chance to shape student life at Herts and create something that reflects the interests of the student community. Herts SU can help you get started, from setting up your society and recruiting members, to accessing funding and organising activities. Along the way, you'll gain valuable experience in areas such as leadership, communication, teamwork and event planning, while creating opportunities for other students to get involved and connect through a shared interest.
