The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency, yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.

Please join us in watching the People's Emergency Briefing film, followed by an open discussion, stalls & networking.

On Wednesday 21 October, we will be hosting two screenings of the 50-min People's Emergency Briefing film back-to-back.

All students, staff and members of the public, are invited to join one of the screenings, and take part in group discussions, including learning about local individual and community action and next steps.

Each event will include:
☕ Refreshments and networking with like-minded people
🎥 50-min screening of the People's Emergency Briefing film
🗣️ Open group and communal discussions
💚 Information around local action
🦸 Stalls held by local environmental groups.

Local environmental groups will be holding stalls in Sawhney Studio outside Prince Edward Hall between 15:00 - 20:30.

These events are fantastic opportunities to not only learn about the various impacts of the climate crisis on the UK, but also to hear about the solutions available whilst networking with like-minded people to discuss individual and community actions.

What is the People's Emergency Briefing?

In November 2025, ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an audience of national decision-makers in Westminster, including more than 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media - this was called the National Emergency Briefing and set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy.

This briefing has been summarised into a 50-minute film - the People's Emergency Briefing - and outlines the risks facing the nation and the credible, positive responses available. To date, over 3,000 film screenings have been hosted by community groups and workplaces across the UK, coupled with group discussions around next steps and local action.

Please do share this film screening event with your friends, family and neighbours - all are welcome! 🙏

Please note: The recommended minimum age for this film is 16.
