Stories Without Words: Exploring Migration Through Visual Narrative

This workshop is designed for beginner Spanish learners and uses the silent picture book Migrante by Issa Watanabe (Peruvian writer/illustrator) as its main pedagogical resource.

Through guided observation, basic vocabulary, and simple oral interaction, students build meaning from images without relying on written text. The workshop encourages storytelling, emotional expression, and intercultural reflection while reducing linguistic anxiety.

By working collaboratively, learners practice simple Spanish structures and develop confidence in speaking, demonstrating that communication and narrative can exist beyond words.
