To help us build a safe and respectful university community here at Herts and as part of the OfS (Office for Students) E6 condition of registration, Herts students are expected to complete mandatory training on Harassment and Sexual Misconduct over the induction period.

The training at Herts is available via 2 routes:

  • Mandatory online training: offered via Canvas. All students are expected to complete this unless an exemption has been requested. All students who do not complete this mandatory online training will be expected to attend an in person training session.
  • In person training session: this is a supplement to the mandatory online training. However, it is a requirement for those who have not completed the online training. In person one hour sessions are being run by Safer Places, who have almost 50 years experience in delivering specialist support services, ranging from emergency support for victims to training for professionals, across Hertfordshire and Essex.

The session will increase your understanding on what harassment and sexual misconduct is. Content includes definitions of harassment, sexual misconduct, consent, bystander interventions, and what to do if you witness or experience harassment or sexual misconduct.
