Physiotherapy laboratories

Developing the skills to assess, rehabilitate and support patients across a wide range of conditions, physiotherapy students learn in five specialist laboratories covering cardiorespiratory, neurological, musculoskeletal and exercise-based practice.

The Physiotherapy Laboratories support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across key areas of the profession, with dedicated spaces focused on cardiorespiratory and vascular care, neurological rehabilitation, musculoskeletal practice and exercise prescription. Students apply theory in practical settings, building confidence in assessment, treatment planning and clinical reasoning.

Fully simulated manikins enhance cardiorespiratory teaching and support clinical decision-making, while exercise bikes and treadmills help students develop skills in rehabilitation and physical activity prescription. Anatomical models and specialist assessment tools support musculoskeletal practice and amputee rehabilitation, while dedicated facilities provide experience of neurological physiotherapy with both adult and paediatric patients.

Together, these environments help students broaden their practical experience, strengthen professional judgement and prepare for careers across diverse healthcare settings.
