Model Studio
The Model Studio provides an expansive, well-lit environment tailored to three-dimensional making. With a high ceiling and dedicated individual workspaces, the studio offers sufficient room for large-scale model construction and the detailed tasks that model designers require. Each student bench provides personal workspace and storage, allowing extended projects to remain in progress across the term.
Around the studio’s perimeter are specialist facilities to support practical making: COSHH cabinets for safe chemical storage, air benches for dust control when sanding or finishing, and material storage areas for commonly used supplies. A hard floor makes the space suitable for heavier fabrication work and for moving trolleys and large components. An adjoining lecture room is available for demonstrations and theory sessions and can be booked for group teaching or crits.
Proximity to Workshop One and Workshop Two is a key advantage: easy access to laser cutting, CNC and 3D printing resources helps students move between digital model design and physical making quickly and efficiently. Technicians provide health and safety inductions and offer practical advice on tools, materials and finishing techniques.
