Learning Resource Centre (LRC)

Whether you want to borrow from our extensive collection of books and journals, you need study space, or you want to benefit from shared resources like free Wi-Fi and loaner laptops, our LRCs are one stop shops for productivity and support that can help take the bite out of the cost of living.

Each campus, College Lane and de Havilland has a Learning Resource Centre (LRC), open 24/7 to current Herts students, staff, and UH ID card holders through the SCONUL Access Scheme (Society of College, National and University Libraries).

Visitors can access the LRCs online to reserve items, manage library accounts, request materials via the Inter-Library Loan service, suggest new books for purchase, and receive notifications.

Those looking for a place to study can choose from PC-equipped walk-in booths and quiet rooms, or bookable group spaces with PCs, webcams and mics ideal for live or recorded classes, or online learning. For quiet and silent study, visitors can use the second floor of College Lane LRC or the silent study rooms at de Havilland.

Our LRCs offer free Wi-Fi and charging points, along with easy access to printing, scanning, photocopying and media prep tools like a light box, laminator and poster trimmer. You’ll also find over 300 software programmes on our systems, including specialist, course-specific packages.

The LRCs are home to our Herts Study Success Hubs and 24/7 techical helpdesk, offering support in academic, digital and library skills, along with guidance on careers and managing your workload.
